The hit show Glee will not be hitting the road to tour this year. “We currently have no plans of touring the cast this summer,” a spokesman for Glee studio Twentieth Century Fox Television told The Hollywood Reporter. They are now aiming to have a charity concert at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl later this year. Proceeds from the event would benefit the Glee Give a Note campaign, which supports music education programs in schools.
The shows co-creator and executive producer, Ryan Murphy, wanted to ensure the cast was happy and had the ability to pursue other non-“Glee” projects over the summer.
The 2011 “Glee Live! In Concert” tour ranked as the No. 16 biggest tour of the year according to Billboard BoxScore. It grossed a reported 40.85 million dollars from 40 sell-out shows. Total attendance numbered 485,852.
