‘Frozen’ Soundtrack Returns to #1 in 9th Week
Disney’s soundtrack to “Frozen” once again returns to the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 after melting down last week’s competition. Bruce Springsteen’s “High Hopes” dropped down from #1 to the #8 spot.
The soundtrack to “Frozen” sold another 97,000 copies this week, with a grand total of 769,000 copies sold. “Frozen” is the first soundtrack to top the #1 spot in three out of four weeks. The last time a soundtrack topped the charts for more than three weeks was when Disney’s soundtrack to the television film “High School Musical 2” topped the charts for four weeks straight. “Frozen” also records its ninth week at #1 on Top Soundtracks since its November debut. At the box office “Frozen” is still in the top five for the ninth straight weekend as well.
The Billboard 200 chart only reflects sales data collected up to Sunday January 26th, the day of the Grammy show, currently placing “2014 Grammy Nominees” album at #2, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
