Disney’s Frozen is dominating soundtrack and Blu-ray sales this week. While the soundtrack for the film has stormed its way up to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the film’s Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, March 18, was also a huge hit.
Following a successful release in theaters, the Blu-ray and DVD versions of Frozen sold an impressive 3.2 million units the first day of sales. Disney believes the movie will be one the biggest titles released in home entertainment in the last decade.
Frozen‘s soundtrack also managed to impress this week, topping the album chart for its sixth nonconsecutive week. Last week the disc stood at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The soundtrack has sold more than 1.4 copies since it debuted at No. 18 on the chart when released last November and has been streamed over 100 million times on Spotify.
Even thought the film has been released on home entertainment, Frozen is still playing in 1,466 theaters and was No. 9 at the weekend box office. The movie has grossed more than $396 million domestically and $1.032 billion worldwide.
