Zayn Malik may have left One Direction, but it certainly didn’t mark the end of his music career.
Malik, who left the group earlier this year, has signed a solo record deal with RCA. The singer revealed the news on Twitter:
I guess I never explained why I left , it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA !!

With his tweet ending with “#realmusic,” many speculated that Malik was dissing the music produced by One Direction. Shortly after the post, Malik sent out another tweet with a new hashtag:

Malik had reportedly recently been dropped by Syco, Simon Cowell’s label which One Direction is signed to. Cowell reacted to the news on Twitter:
We have been working on this for a while and I am pleased to say congratulations to @Zaynmalik on signing with @RCARecords

I believe they are the perfect label for @ZaynMalik’s solo career and I am sure whatever they release together will be special.

Earlier this week, Malik also reportedly signed a deal with Turn Fire Artists and will be managed by Sarah Stennett, who is also the manager for Iggy Azalea.
