An innocent woman in Cape Town, South Africa had anticipated strolling into a jam-packed stadium, where she would be a part of the crowd that awaited a show from the rock star band Linkin Park.
It was then, that a gust of wind blew over a promotional billboard, striking the women. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where she was announced dead later that evening.
Linkin Park acknowledged the woman’s death on their website, saying:
“We wish to express our deep sadness and concern for those injured and our heartfelt condolences to the family of the fan who died as a result of her injuries.”
The band learned about the death shortly after the concert, which was played despite the bad weather. Nineteen others where injured in the incident.
