Fall Out Boy has released their new lead single called “Centuries” for their forthcoming untitled sixth studio album.
In this ultimate jam, Fall Out Boy’s new single samples a remix of a late 80’s classic song by Suzanne Vega’s called “Tom’s Diner” by incorporating the “doo-doo-doo” vocal hook into Centuries. The group wanted to re-introduce the iconic melody written by Vega into today’s pop culture by having the vocal hook sung by the group’s label-mate LoLo.
The teaser video for the new single pays tribute to band’s hometown, Chicago, in an edgy hyperlapse black and white video showing parts around the famous Windy City. Pete Wentz calls “Centuries” “the story of David and Goliath. It is us passing along the story of how we feel right before we step on stage, trading feeling small and human for all the sweat and grit and sheer power of belief it takes to stare down a giant.”
Fall Out Boy is estimated to have their forthcoming sixth studio album done by early next year.
