Exhaustion Causes Phillip Phillips to Cancel Remainder of Tour

Last year’s American Idol winner Phillip Philips, hasn’t taken a break since his big win.  After his victory he released his hit single “Home” then immediately went on the American Idol tour.  Nothing could stop Phillips, not even kidney surgery that he had to undergo in June of last year. The 22 year old singer only took a few weeks off before returning to the studio to record his debut album, The World from the Side of the Moon, which was released in November of 2012.

Since January 29 the American Idol winner has been touring the United States along with Matchbox Twenty playing six shows a week, as well as headlining a ten date college tour that started in January. Due to Phillips’ rigorous schedule, his lack of post-surgery rest has finally caught up to him.

Because of Phillips’ lack of rest, he is now suffering from dehydration and exhaustion. Since the singer has done nothing but work since his surgery last June, his doctor has ordered him to take a break and cancel the last nine dates of his tour.  Yesterday afternoon Phillips tweeted “Hey guys, due to doctor’s orders I have to postpone my last few tour dates!”

But don’t worry!  Phillips also tweeted “They will be rescheduled! Looking forward to seeing you all on the John Mayer tour this summer!”  Phillips will be opening for John Mayer on his Born and Raised world tour that starts July 6 and goes until October 5.
