After a drone sliced his fingers during a performance Saturday night, Enrique Iglesias will be undergoing reconstructive hand surgery, according to his publicist.
The singer was performing in Tijuana, Mexico for his Sex and Love world tour in front of more than 12,000 people when the accident occurred.
“During the show a drone is used to get crowd shots and some nights Enrique grabs the drone to give the audience a Point of View shot,” a rep for the singer said in a statement Sunday. “Something went wrong and he had an accident.”
Iglesias was treated on the side of the stage and was advised to end the show, however, he chose to perform for 30 more minutes as his hand bled, according to social media photos posted by concertgoers.

Afterward Iglesias was “rushed to the airport where an ambulance met him there,” the singer’s rep said. “He was then put on a plane to L.A. to see a specialist.”
The rep added on Monday: “Thank you to all for your concern and good wishes. Enrique is currently undergoing reconstructive hand surgery today. He will resume his tour July 3rd in Mexico City. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.”
