Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 this week, selling an impressive 792,000 copies in its first week.
The sales of Eminem’s latest release comes with little surprise, with nearly all of the rapper’s preceding efforts landing in the top spot on the albums chart. MMLP 2 marks Eminem’s seventh No. 1 album in a row, following the success of 2000’s The Marshall Mathers LP, 2002’s The Eminem Show, 2004’s Encore, 2009’s Relapse and 2010’s Recovery. Eminem’s first major record release, 1999’s The Slim Shady LP, peaked at #2 and was the rapper’s only album not to earn a #1 spot.
Eminem’s MMLP 2 now has the second-largest sales week of the year, behind Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience, which sold 968,000 copies in its first week back in March.
The Marshal Mathers LP 2 is available on iTunes now.
