English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will soon be showing off his acting skills on the small screen.
The “Thinking Out Loud” singer has signed on for a recurring role in FX’s upcoming medieval drama The Bastard Executioner, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The series, created by Sons of Anarchy’s Kurt Sutter, is a “a blood-soaked medieval epic.” It centers on a 14th century knight, played by True Blood’s Stephen Moyer, who becomes an executioner. Sheeran will portray Sir Cormac, “an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder.”
Katey Sagal, Lee Jones, and Flora Spencer-Longhurst also star in the series.
This marks the second time Sheeran will be working with Sutter. The singer, who was a big fan of Sons of Anarchy, recorded a new version of Foy Vance’s “Make It Rain” for the show’s final season.
Sheeran previously appeared on television this year in NBC’s comedy series Undateable. He also has a concert special that is set to air on NBC later this summer titled Ed Sheeran: Live at Wembley Stadium.
The Bastard Executioner will premiere on FX this fall.
