The long rumored Drake and Future collaboration is finally put to rest as the famed rappers released their mixtape, What A Time To Be Alive on Sunday. Drake revealed the news on his OVO radio show on Beats 1 stating “It’s a little soundtrack for people that need it right now.”
Future and Drake have collaborated on several songs and projects in the past, including their recent single “Where Ya At?” from Future’s album DS2. Drake had this to say about the Atlanta rapper, “when you get around Future, it’s like a vortex, that guy can outwork anybody right now…It’s tough to see someone do four, five songs in one night and not try to match it.”
Drake is no slouch either. This mixtape marks Drake’s second release with If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, and his current feud with Meek Mill motivated Drake to release two critically acclaimed diss tracks.
What A Time To Be Alive will go down as one the top collaboration in rap history. With both rappers at the peak of their game, and with no signs of slowing down, this mixtape is sure to be on heavy rotation before it’s released worldwide.
The mixtape is currently available on iTunes and Apple Music, one week before its widespread release.
