Demi Lovato Announces Fourth Studio Album ‘Demi’

X-Factor judge Demi Lovato has announced she will be releasing her fourth studio album on May 14th.  Demi is expected to be Lovato’s most personal album to date.

“With my new album, I’m hoping to provide inspiration for girls everywhere who are going through the same issues I’ve faced. I think this will come through in a lot of the material,” Lovato revealed in an article she wrote for Seventeen.  “My first single is really special to me— to me it symbolizes my journey from the person I was to the happy healthy person I am today, and the fact that people are able to rise above anything, despite the odds.”

The album’s lead single “Heart Attack” exploded worldwide when it was released online on February 24th.  The song quickly rose to the top of the iTunes chart to debut at #1 in 19 countries.

“I’m incredibly proud of this album,” Lovato announced in a statement.  “It’s better than anything I have ever done! I experimented with a variety of different sounds and poured my heart into writing these songs. I’m so excited for everyone to finally get the chance to hear them!”

Demi is the follow-up to 2011’s Unbroken that has sold over 448,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.  Lovato earned her first Top 10 single when the album’s lead single “Skyscraper” debuted at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Expect there to be a lot of follow-up songs on Lovato’s new album.  “I feel like one is a follow-up song to ‘Skyscraper,'” Lovato told MTV News. “I feel like other ones talk about some issues I haven’t spoken about. I’m continuing to let out a lot of things therapeutically on my music and I’m very thankful I have the opportunity to do that … I’ve been working with incredible producers.”

Pre-orders for Demi have already begun in North America.  The rest of the world will be able to pre-order their copy beginning Tuesday, April 9th.

The music video for “Heart Attack” will be released on April 9th at 6PM (CST) on E! News.
