Daft Punk Rules The Grammys
The French electronic music duo consisting of musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, better known as Daft Punk, had a big night at the 2014 Grammys winning in the big categories Record of The Year for the hit “Get Lucky” and Album of The Year for “Random Access Memories.”
Dressed in their “robotic” outfits, the duo rarely speaks instead letting Pharrell Williams (who sang on “Get Lucky”) accept for Record of The Year.
The other big winners of the night included Macklemore & Ryan Lewis who won a total of four Grammys and newcomer Lorde who won two for Song of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance for her huge hit “Royals.”
Performances also dominated the awards evening which included a duet from mega-couple Beyonce and Jay-Z who opened the show.
Imagine Dragons, who won for Best Rock Performance for “Radioactive,” also played live for the crowd in a duet that featured Kendrick Lamar.
Singer Pink put on an aerial Cirque-like show that included a vocal performance with singer Nate Reuss of the band Fun. The two sang the hit “Just Give Me A Reason.”
The show stopper of the night featured Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performing their hit “Same Love” that included an appearance by Queen Latifah who officiated over the wedding of 33 couples that included both gay and straight newlyweds. Singer Madonna also appeared during the song to perform “Open Your Heart.” The song brought tears to many in the crowd including country star (and American Idol judge) Keith Urban.
