Late night talk show host Conan O’Brien is launching his own record label named after his popular Team Coco.
As stated by The Hollywood Reporter, O’Brien intends for the label to shine a spotlight on up-and-coming comedians while also granting them creative control and a bigger stake in a release’s success.
The first release to come from the Team Coco comedy label is Ian Edward’s 100% Half Assed. The album will consist of stand up comedy that the Two Broke Girls writer recorded at La Jolla, California’s Comedy Store in March.
Edwards has recently begun his own podcast, Soccer Comic Rant, on the All Things Comedy podcast network. The comedian is also a supervising producer on Adult Swim’s Black Dynamite, has previously written form NBC’s Saturday Night Live and Cartoon Network’s The Boondocks.
O’Brien has used the Team Coco banner for the Team Coco Presents: The Conan Writers Live comedy special, and has highlighted stand-up comics who have passed through on Conan After Hours, hosted by Pete Holmes.
