Coldplay initially recorded the music video with director Hype Williams, the same director they used for “Viva La Vida”. The video ended up getting scrapped and the band moved in a different direction with director and long-time collaborator Mat Whitecross.
The music video was filmed on location in London, Cape Town, the Western Cape’s Klein Karoo and Johannesburg and released on October 19th.

“Criminal” is the fourth single from her seventh studio that was released back on March 25th. The single was made as a tribute to Spear’s fans through her Facebook page where fans could vote on which song from the album they would like to be made into a music video. “Criminal” was filmed in Stoke Newington, a district of London, on the weekend of September 17,2011.
The music video is directed by Chris Marrs Piliero and stars Spears’ real-life boyfriend Jason Trawick as the criminal. Marrs Piliero explained the challenge of working with Trawick, stating, I went into it like, ‘Wow, he’s not an actor. This is going to be interesting,’ but I really do like the idea that I’m a director and my job is to direct and get the performance. For me, it was a fun challenge to be like, ‘I’m gonna make sure that you are awesome,’ and he was.”
Director Marrs Piliero released on Twitter “Not a whole lot I’m allowed to say about [it] other than that I love this video and can’t wait for it to come out. Oh and that [Spears] looks gorgeous in it… pretty sure it’s cool for me to say that.”
