With the rumors proving to be true, Coachella has set the bar high for this festival season. The lineup was released on Monday January 4th, with two of it headliners being reunited groups in Guns N’ Roses and LCD Soundsystem.
While Axl Rose has toured in promoting the last GN’R album Chinese Democracy in 2008, the original lineup hasn’t played since 1993. This will mark the start of tour for the band as rumors have floated around that the band is negotiating with promoters to play 25 football stadiums in North America.
Not to be overshadowed be one of the most influential bands of all time, LCD Soundsystem is back! Years after playing a farewell concert at Madison Square Garden in 2011, frontman James Murphy released a note on the bands website. Murphy stated that “we’re not just playing Coachella. We’re playing all over. We’re not just having some reunion tour. We’re releasing a record (sometime this year—still working on it, actually)”. While fans might feel cheated with the band getting back together, I for one am happy to see LCD back.
Coachella will also welcome Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, Ice Cube, Sia and many more!!The two weekend festival is scheduled for April 15-17 and 22-24. Tickets will go on sale January 6th at 1pm CST. For information on festival passes check out the Coachella tickets page.
