Despite early reports that music icon Clive Davis would NOT appear at his annual pre-Grammy party, Davis did show up within the past hour and spoke of the passing of Whitney Houston.
Clive said, “Whitney was so full of life. She was so looking forward to tonight. She loved music and loved this night that celebrated music. Whitney would have asked that the music go on. And her family said the show should go on.”
Davis then asked the attendees to pay tribute in a moment of silence.
“Now ladies and gentlemen,” he said after, “let the music begin.”
Tony Bennett then took the stage and sang “How Do You Keep the Music Playing?”
There were reports that Houston’s body was still inside the Beverly Hilton hotel while the Davis event was happening.
Producers of the Grammy Awards, being held Sunday February 12, have said Jennifer Hudson will perform a special tribute to Houston during the broadcast.
