Chris Brown Checks into Rehab

By now you’ve heard about R&B singer Chris Brown’s arrest which took place earlier this week. Brown was arrested and charged with felony assault Monday morning (Oct. 27) for allegedly hitting a man in the face. The Grammy-winning singer pleaded not guilty later that day in Washington, D.C., to a misdemeanor assault charge that prosecutors reduced from a felony.

Following his appearance in court, the troubled singer decided to check himself into rehab.

“Chris Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility,” a representative for Brown said in a statement Tuesday (Oct. 28). “His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point.”

The 24-year-old’s choice to acquire the much-needed help is a great change, but is it too little, too late?

The Washington, D.C. charge could have consequences in Los Angeles if a judge determines that Brown violated probation for his assault conviction of Rihanna. If Brown is found to have violated probation, he could be sentenced to up to four years in jail, officials say.

Brown is due back in a Los Angeles courtroom on November 20.
