China Un-Bans Lady Gaga
After a ban was imposed on Lady Gaga by the Chinese government, China has decided to remove the pop star from its blacklist, allowing for her new chart-topping album ARTPOP to legally go on sale.
The country’s authorities had blacklisted the New York base pop singer after the Culture Ministry deemed her work as a risk to the nation’s security, feeling Gaga’s music was offensive for its “poor taste and vulgar content.”
While the album may be available in China it has yet to escape complete censorship. Chinese censors have made modifications to the albums cover art by adding black tights to the singers bare legs and increased the size of a large ball for the sake of modesty. Also, officials have changed the song title Sexxx Dreams to X Dreams
After hearing the news of China’s decision Gaga tweeted, “I’m so excited!!!! The Chinese government approved ARTPOP to be released in China with all 15 songs! Next I hope I can come to perform!”
