Calvin Harris has claimed the No. 1 spot on Forbes’ list of world’s highest paid DJs.
The Scottish producer and song writer makes Forbes’ No.1 spot on this year’s Electronic Cash Kings list. Harris’ $46 million earned this year bumped world renowned Dutch DJ Tiesto down to the No.2 spot with $32 million.
The rise of the electronic dance music and festivals has been tremendous in the U.S. over last few years. Harris’ success is due to good timing and pairing up with pop stars like Rihanna, Ellie Goulding and even LMFAO. In addition to music collaborations, Harris headlined ULTRA, Coachella 2012, Nocturnal Wonderland Texas 2012 and, most recently, EDC VEGAS 2013 (Electric Daisy Carnival) with European legends Dj Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and Afrojack this year.
“The rise of dance music has been astronomical in the last three years,” Harris tells FORBES. “I happened to be in the right place at the right time.”
Earlier this month Harris broke his own chart record by becoming the first artist to have nine TOP 10 singles, all of which from his third studio album 18 months.
