This year marks a decade as a jockey of discs for Yeahdef. The Denton dude kicked off his DJ career back in 2003. Yeahdef came up playing small gigs at places like The Cavern, Fallout, and Rubber Gloves – he even held gigs as small as house parties. Now at the tail end of 2013, the kid is pumped and ready to rock out at one of the most diverse music festivals to land the Dallas-Fort Worth area – Breakaway Music Festival.
The 2012 Dallas Observer Best DJ nominee has juggled a number of jobs unofficially over the years – from promoter to video game enthusiast, ringleader to booking agent, projectionist to glorified bar-back – but spinning records and moving bodies has remained top priority.
Check out Yeahdef’s latest mix below. The Denton DJ sends us traveling back in time with this fresh 90’s remix of Freak Nasty’s “Da Dip.” The mix provides a nice, funky old school vibe. Around the 1:30 mark Yeahdef gives us a splash of Christina Milian’s “Dip It Low” track, assuring listeners that the track is all about dipping the unidentified “it.” Take a listen.
Watch Yeahdef perform at Breakaway Music Festival on Saturday, September 21st at FC Dallas Stadium in Dallas, TX. Purchase your tickets to the festival today by visiting www.breakawayfestival.com!
