Broadway’s hit musical, “The Book of Mormon”, just set the record for highest weekly gross in history for a national tour.
“Book of Mormon” generated $2,802,606 over eight shows at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, which seats 4,678 people. “Wicked” held the previous record during its 2012 national tour generating $2,755,070 during its week at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis.
“The Book of Mormon” is a religious satire musical and tells the story of two young Mormon missionaries sent to Uganda.The hit Broadway musical from “South Park” creators Trey Parker, Matt Stone and composed by Robert Lopez (Avenue Q) has already won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album since its 2011 production debut.
“The Book of Mormon” is currently on its second US national tour.
