Beyonces Clinches Third Straight Week at No.1 on Billboard 200

Sales for Beyonce’s self-titled album continues to grow as it tops the Billboard 200 albums chart for the third straight week.

Although sales are down 17% compared to last week, the 32-year-old’s surprise release sold 310,000 copies during the week ending Dec. 29, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Since it’s release on Dec. 13, Beyonce has sold over 1.3 million copies in the U.S.

The last album to land three consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200 was Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience in April 2013.  Beyonce’s latest release is the first album since 2009 to sell over 300,000 copies during its first three weeks on sale.  The self-titled album has also become the fastest selling release since Taylor Swift’s Red sold 1.6 million copies during its first two weeks on sale in 2012.
