Backstage Artist Spotlight: Royal Teeth
There’s one rising band you should have your eye on, and it’s Royal Teeth.
The New Orleans-based group launched their music career back in 2011, creeping into the music scene with the release of their debut EP Act Naturally, and introducing a joyous new pop sound to the masses. The indie-pop bunch, comprised of Gary Larsen (vocals), Nora Patterson (vocals), Joshua Wells (bass), Josh Hefner (drums), Stevie Billeaud (guitar), and Andrew Poe (keyboard) dove deep into their music career, taking leaps as far as quitting their day jobs, but their sacrifices have proved to be rewarding.
Royal Teeth’s journey thus far has included performances at CMJ and SXSW, and tours with bands like Fitz and the Tantrums, 2 Skinnee J’s and Gold Fields. Even larger, the band has been featured on Last Call with Carson Daly and seen several songs placed in various TV spots, including the new Samsung Galaxy S 5 commercial. Royal Teeth most recently invaded American Idol for a performance of their new single “Wild” – an opportunity that allowed the group to play in front of millions of new faces and spread their music to new territory.
Since signing with Dangerbird Records, Royal Teeth has been making huge waves. The Louisiana indie rockers have released their long awaited debut album Glow, which was unleashed in August of last year, and are now on tour.
Last night, June 5, Royal Teeth brought their tour to Houston’s Warehouse Live. Following the openers of the evening, Showers and Glass the Sky, Royal Teeth brought a beam of excitement, loads of energy, and GREAT songs to the stage. It was a phenomenal performance packed with confetti, balloons, and an AWESOME drum solo in the middle of the audience! The crowd was having a blast and so were the performers. It was the ideal musical experience.
