UPDATE: It was JUST announced that At The Drive-In WILL appear at this year’s Coachella Festival.
I’m calling this right now- THIS is the band you will want to see at the upcoming music festivals in 2012.
The question will be who gets them? Coachella? ACL? Will there be a South By Southwest appearance? Trust that we will know (and be there) and pass along.
After an eleven year absence, the El Paso born rock band posted the following tweet just a few hours ago:
“¡ ATTENTION ! To whom it may concern: AT THE DRIVE-IN will be breaking their 11 year silence THIS STATION IS…NOW..OPERATIONAL.”
The band originally called it quits when frontman Cedric Bixlar-Zavala left for those typical “artistic differences.” Bixlar-Zavala had mentioned in several interviews he felt the band was holding him back.
He did move forward and formed The Mars Volta with Omar Rodriguez-Lopez.
Now it appears the band members have settled their differences and are about to launch the next phase of At The Drive-In.
And that is a GREAT thing.
