The 41st annual American Music Awards was held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night and was hosted by rapper Pitbull.
The event featured many interesting performances, including Katy Perry opening the show dressed as a Geisha, R. Kelly and Lady Gaga portraying the President and an illicit lover for their song “Do What U Want”, and Miley Cyrus singing in front of a screen with a huge lip-synching kitten. The broadcast also included a reunion of TLC, with the group performing “Chasing Waterfalls” towards the end of the show.
The big winners of the night were Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift. Timberlake took home three awards, while Swift took home four, including the top prize for Artist of the Year. Rihanna was honored as the first-ever recipient of the AMA Icon Award, which commemorated her music career and her accomplishment of selling over 10 million albums in the U.S.
