Alan Thicke, Justin Timberlake and Billy Ray Cyrus Defend Miley’s VMA Performance

It’s been three days since the MTV Video Music Awards, and the internet is still talking about Miley Cyrus’ wild performance of “We Can’t Stop” and “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke.  The raunchy performance sparked a media frenzy and many spoke out in disgust over it.  It even caused the Parents Television Council to make a statement.

Despite all the negative feedback about her performance, a few celebrities have come to her defense.

“Of course I’ll always be here for Miley,” her father Billy Ray Cyrus stated. “Can’t wait [to] see her when she gets home. She’s still my little girl and I’m still her dad regardless how this circus we call show business plays out. I love her unconditionally and that will never change.”

Robin Thicke’s father Alan tweeted about the issue on Tuesday, saying “The stated mission of the VMAs is shock and awe, not shucks and ahhh like a family sitcom.” He lated added, “Parents still bemoaning VMAs might have had a clue when Gaga bared butt in opening. Good time to lock up your children?!” In another tweet, he said “The firestorm rages on. VMA now stands for ‘View Miley’s Ass’. BTW, they’re killing people with chemical weapons in Syria.”

Justin Timberlake, who received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award Sunday night, also spoke out in support of Miley. “Listen, man, you know, it’s the VMAs. What did you guys expect?” the singer said. “I like Miley. I like her a lot. I think, you know, she’s young. She’s letting everyone know that she’s growing up. I just think it’s the VMAs. It’s not like she did it at the Grammys. Let her do her thing. You know?”
