21, Adele’s most successful Grammy winning album, has hit another milestone. Billboard reported that 21 has sold 10,020,000 in just 92 weeks, according to Nielsen SoundScan numbers.
There are only two other albums that have reached the 10 million mark faster. NSYNC’s No Strings Attached reached the milestone in January 2001 after 43 weeks while the Backstreet Boys’ Millennium was the fastest to break 10 million sales in February 2000 after only 39 weeks.
21‘s next major milestone is to reach the TOP 10 on the all-time bestseller list since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. Currently the list is topped by Metallica’s The Black Album in 1991, which has sold 15.8 million copies, and Shania Twain’s Come on Over with 15.5 million copies sold.
