7 Days Till DeLuna Fest: Manchester Orchestra “Simple Math”

A group that fellow rockers call a “band’s band”, Manchester Orchestra seems to always create the most buzz among bands backstage.

The indie rock band that hails from Atlanta, GA may be signed to an independent label but are making superstar kind of noise.

The first time I had ever heard of the group was at the Austin City Limits Festival in 2010. Every band we interviewed, whether it was Switchfoot, Silversun Pickups or Cage the Elephant, mentioned that Manchester Orchestra was the band they were the most excited to see.

The band has plenty of tunes to tour on with three studio albums already released. One of Manchester Orchestra’s upcoming stops is at DeLuna Fest in Pensacola Beach next weekend where they will be performing their new song “Simple Math”.

“This is a song about an affair, non-existent but unrealized,” explains songwriter Andy Hull. “I cannot hide from the truth. It finds me. The chorus is myself questioning God. Had I convinced myself, my family, my band that something is real when it isn’t?”
