Todd Harrell is in legal trouble once again for substance abuse. The 3 Doors Down bassist was arrested in D’Iberville, Mississippi on Tuesday night for driving under the influence on a substance other than alcohol, the Sun Herald newspaper and WLOX-TV reported.
This is the second DUI charge for Harrell in the last two years. In 2012 he was convicted of his first DUI charge after crashing his Cadillac into the back of a pickup. Harrell admitted to having taking Zanaflex the night before and blood tests proved he had five different prescription pills in his system. The bassist fought the case and appealed, but a judge denied his appeal and found him guilty.
Harrell is also facing numerous charges in his home city of Nashville, TN. Last April, police claim Harrell was under the influence when he was driving down I-40 and slammed into the back of another pickup. Inside the truck was 47-year-old Paul Shoulders, who was killed. As a result, Harrell faces charges of vehicular homicide by intoxication, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, violation of the implied consent law and possession of contraband.
D’Iberville Police Chief Wayne Payne says Harrell is out on bond and no court date has been set yet.
