Zachary Quinto Pays Tribute To ‘Star Trek’ Co-Star Anton Yelchin on ‘Stephen Colbert’

Zachary Quinto stopped by the Late Show with Stephen Colbert Friday to promote the upcoming installment in the Star Trek film saga, Star Trek Beyond.

Quinto spoke of Star Trek co-star Anton Yelchin’s untimely death, calling it “absolutely senseless.” Yelchin passed away last month in an accident at his home, in which he was pinned between his car and his mailbox that was attached to his security gate.

“I don’t even know how to even talk about it,” Quinto stated. “We already knew that this would be a really bittersweet experience because of the loss of Leonard [Nimoy] last year, but this has just been absolutely devastating for all of us.”

“I think our goal just has to be to celebrate his incredible life and honor him as much as we can,” he added. “It was a terrible loss, not only to us personally, but I think to the industry and audiences. He was such a talent.”

Star Trek Beyond hits theaters July 22. Watch Stephen Colbert’s interview with Quinto below:
