A trailer for Zac Efron’s next film, Parkland, surfaced online Wednesday (August 21). Through multiple perspectives, the movie recounts the events that happened at Parkland Hospital in Dallas the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Efron stars as Jim Carrico, the first-year surgical resident who was the first doctor to attend to Kennedy upon his arrival to Parkland Hospital on November 22, 1963. This marks Efron’s second dramatic role, showing his transition to more adult roles in his acting career. His first dramatic role was in 2012’s The Paperboy.
Parkland not only focuses on the chaos at the hospital, it also looks at the investigation in finding out who was responsible for killing President Kennedy. Billy Bob Thornton plays Secret Service agent Forrest Sorrels and Paul Giamatti portrays Abraham Zapruder, the man who caught video footage of the president being shot. Other stars in the film include Jacki Weaver, Marcia Gay Harden, Tom Welling, Mark Duplass, James Badge Dale and Colin Hanks.
