Universal’s hilariously successful comedy last summer, Neighbors, is going to get a sequel!
Stars Zac Efron, Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, as well as director Nicholas Stroller, will reunite for Neighbors 2. The studio plans to give the sequel a wide release May 13th, 2016.
The initial Neighbors, penned by Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, revolved around a couple who are forced to live next door to a fraternity house after the birth of their newborn baby. The film went on to make around $269 million worldwide and received rave reviews. Cohen and O’Brien will return for the sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, who exclusively reported the news, the follow-up will have a female twist. “This time a sorority moves in next door to the couple, who enlist their former nemeses from the fraternity to help battle the raucous sisters.”
Neighbors 2 will open against Paramount’s Friday the 13th and a week after Disney/Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War.
