Watch Trailer For ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water’

SpongeBob SquarePants is moving on up and out of the water in Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movie’s newly released trailer for The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.

The 3D animated/live action fusion film, directed by SpongeBob series writer and executive producer Paul Tibbitt, is the sequel to the absorbent yellow cartoon character’s original big screen debut in 2004 (The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie).

It takes place on land as the pineapple-homeowner and his friends go on a quest to discover a stolen recipe that takes them to our world, where they face off against an evil pirate named Alameda Jack (played by Antonio Banderas) who possesses the recipe.

In order to get the recipe, SpongeBob transforms into a superhero named Invincibubble, Patrick becomes Mr. Superawsomeness, Sandy becomes a real-life squirrel, Mr. Krabs becomes Sir Pinch-a-lot, Plankton becomes a Hulk-like superhero, and Squidward becomes Sour Note.

The show’s original voice cast will reprise their roles in the upcoming film, which include Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass, Clancy Brown, Carolyn Lawrence and Mr. Lawrence.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, splashes into theaters on February 6, 2015.
