Jurassic World is open! The first trailer for the upcoming dinosaur installment is here ahead of its expected Thanksgiving Day premiere.
Jurassic Park, directed by Steven Spielberg, was released back in 1993 grossing $357.1 million domestically. In 2013, the dinosaur-filled film was re-released in 3D to celebrate its 20th anniversary. It’s total gross eclipsed to $1 billion worldwide, making it the 17th film to do so.
Director Colin Trevorrow’s upcoming sequel, Jurassic World, will be the series’ fourth film to be released. It stars Chris Pratt as the central character, named Owen, who plays a scientist who conducts behavioral research on raptors.
Alongside Pratt, the film stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, Tye Simpkins, Omar Sy, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Jake Johnson, Judy Greer, B.D. Wong, Katie McGrath and Lauren Lapkus.
Jurassic World takes place 22 years after the dinosaur theme park was conceived. In an interview with NBC’s Today earlier this year, Pratt explained a little bit about the plot of the film. “People from around the world, 20,000 visitors a day, come to see the dinosaurs and see the several attractions. It’s been around long enough to where attendance starts to fall off a little bit. So they’ve decided to come up with a new attraction to bring even more people in. You’re never gonna believe it, but it doesn’t go well.”
In the full trailer, you will find that there is now a new genetically modified hybrid dinosaur that has been created by the scientists, in which Pratt’s character states is “probably not a good idea.” The highly intelligent animal is said to “kill anything that moves.”
Jurassic World is due out June 12, 2015, and will be a 3D release. Check out the new trailer below!
