The film debuts March 31st, 2017.
DreamWorks-Paramount’s live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell has released its first full-length trailer.
Unveiled at a special event in Tokyo, Scarlett Johansson says in the opening of the clip, “I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to play the Major, and I am so excited to be able to show you a glimpse into her world.”
The action-packed trailer commences, with Johannson defeating the bad guys as Major. Directed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman), Ghost in the Shell also stars Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche and Michael Pitt.
The upcoming film is based on the Japanese manga series originally created by Masamune Shirow in 1989; the comic book was later adapted into an anime movie in 1995 of the same name. Set in the year 2029, the story will follow Major Motoko Kusanagi and her security agency squad members on their search for a malevolent hacker named the Puppet Master.
