New Line Cinema has decided to have the Griswold family return to the big screen sooner than expected. The studio announced Monday that the release date for the National Lampoon’s Vacation reboot Vacation has moved up from November 13, 2015, to October 9, 2015.
The film stars Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Leslie Mann, and Chris Hemsworth. It is also set to feature the original film’s stars Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo in a cameo appearance. Helms will portray Rusty Griswold, who decides to take his family on a vacation similar to the one his dad took the family on in the 1983 film. Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley will write and direct the comedy film.
With its new release date, the film will be competing against Disney’s The Jungle Book and the Halle Berry thriller Kidnap.
Filming for Vacation is currently underway in Louisiana.
