Universal Studios is planning a sequel to the crime comedy Identity Thief starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy.
Universal chairman Adam Fogelson confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter that the studio will develop a follow-up to film after it has proven successful at the box office.
After three weeks at the box office the film has already earned over $93 million on a budget of only $35 million.
“We think we created great characters, so we’ll discuss how to re-pair Jason and Melissa going forward,” said Fogelson on plans of an upcoming sequel.
Other sequel projects in the talks for Universal are Snow White and the Huntsman, The Bourne Legacy, and the Guillermo del Toro horror film Mama, which has taken home over $70 million.
