Two More ‘Lego’ Movies Get Release Dates

Warner Bros. has set aside May 25, 2018, and May 24, 2019, for the release of two untitled animated movies. Both dates fall during Memorial Day weekend and sources say that both films will be a part of the Lego Movie franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Lego Movie, starring Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, and Will Arnett, was a big hit earlier this year, winning over critics and grossing $468 million worldwide. The studio announced that The Lego Movie 2 would hit theaters May 26, 2017, and ninja-themed spinoff Lego Ninjago will be released September 23, 2016. Based on the new dates, Warner Bros. may be planning to have a third Lego Movie in 2018, while the 2019 date might be reserved for a sequel to Lego Ninjago. Producers Dan Lin and Roy Lee are serving as the leaders of the franchise.

In addition, Warner Bros. stated its plans for its DC Comics franchise. The release date of Superman v. Batman: Dawn of Justice has been moved from May 6, 2016, to March 25, 2016, so it will no longer have to compete with Captain America 3. The studio also provided dates for nine untitled superhero movies, which most likely include Justice League films and a Wonder Woman spin-off.
