During the summer, it was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con that Legendary Entertainment was working on an original story about King Kong called Skull Island. Today it was announced that Avengers star Tom Hiddleston will star in the film.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct Skull Island, and Max Borenstein, who wrote the latest Godzilla film, penned the first draft of the screenplay.
“Previous works have touched on the island, but staying on and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions,” the company said. No further details were provided about the project.
Hiddleston will also be starring in Legendary’s upcoming horror film Crimson Peak from director Guillermo del Toro. The actor has been keeping busy filming an adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s sci-fi novel High-Rise and the Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light.
Skull Island is slated to hit theaters November 4, 2016.
