The book trilogy The Hunger Games has confirmed splitting its final installment into two films. According to Lionsgate, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 will be released in November 2014, following the second part to release exactly 12 months later.
The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, is a science fiction book about teenagers forced to fight to the death in a televised competition. The first movie starting Jenifer Lawrence smashed box office records when it was released in March, making $678 million worldwide. The movie is currently this years second highest-grossing film behind The Avengers in the U.S.
Filming for the fourth and final installment will begin in September with Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Donald Sutherland, all confirming to play their original roles.
