“The Bible” Coming to a Theater Near You

History Channel’s 10-part miniseries The Bible is coming to a theater near you.  NBC Universal announced the news during their press day on Monday.

“We’re cutting a movie version right now, a three-hour version of Jesus and [we have] many, many offers from theaters globally,” executive producer Mark Burnett told The Hollywood Reporter.  The movie is expected to have a big focus on resurrection, according to Burnett.

In addition to the stories already in The Bible, Burnett is eyeing a few more scripts to added to the storyline.

“It’s never actually stopped, but I do have scripts in my bag that I just received today for what’s next,” the producer told The Hollywood Reporter.

When The Bible debuted on March 3rd it shared high ratings across the globe.  Over 11.3 million viewers tuned into the show in the United States, while in Canada the show even beat the country’s favorite sport in ratings, hockey.

“It’s a God voice,” Burnett added. “It’s clearly a calling; clearly, we felt it was something we had to do, and too many things happened to explain it any other way. It’s a juggernaut, and it’s not going to slow down.”

Expect The Bible to be released in theaters this Fall.
