Tarantino Drops ‘Hateful Eight’ Due to Leaked Script
After a leak of the script for Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming western The Hateful Eight, he has decided to drop the project, leaving the director feeling doubled crossed.
During an interview with Deadline, Tarantino revealed that he has circulated the script to six people. The six people being, Bruce Dern, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen along with their agents.
“The one I know didn’t do this is Tim Roth,” said Tarantino. “One of the others let their agent read it, and that agent has now passed it on to everyone in Hollywood. I don’t know how these f—ing agents work, but I’m not making this next. I’m going to publish it, and that’s it for now. I give it out to six people, and if I can’t trust them to that degree, then I have no desire to make it.”
As for the future, Tarantino plans to assemble the script and release it as a book. “ I like the fact that people like my sh–, and that they go out of their way to find it and read it. But I gave it to six motherf—ing people! Starting this week, I’ll be setting meetings with publishers.”
While the director feels irate over the matter, he did mention that he “could totally change his mind” about continuing production for the film, but not anytime soon.
