Sony Pictures #1 in Box Office Sales for 2012

Sony Pictures Entertainment ended 2012 on a good note generating $4.440 billion in films.  The studio ended the year #1 in domestic and worldwide marketshare industry wide, although Twentieth Century Fox Film was #1 in 2012 internationally.

Skyfall was Sony’s top film, earning over $1 billion worldwide alone, following The Amazing Spider-Man’s $752.2 million, Men in Black 3’s $624 million, Hotel Transylvania’s $312.6 million, 21 Jump Street’s $201.6 million, Total Recall’s $198.5 million and The Vow with $196.1 million.

Sony Pictures pulled in a whopping $1.768 billion in domestic ticket sales and $2.672 billion overseas.
