‘Scooby-Doo’ Reboot Is In The Works

Just days after Casey Kasem’s death, the legendary broadcaster who voiced Shaggy for many years, Warner Bros. is attempting to reboot the Scooby-Doo franchise for yet another series of live-action features.

The first live-action version Scooby-Doo, released back in 2002, starred Freddie Prinze Jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini. The film had a successful first run, making over $275 million worldwide. In 2004, the cast reunited for a sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. After making $184 million, nearly $90 million less than the first time, the franchise slowly died away after the release of the second film.

Variety reported in August last year that the popular canine was to return in an animated feature film. However, according to Deadline, Warner Bros. is “starting from scratch” and will put Randall Green in charge of writing the script for the untitled live-action film.

There are currently no actors attached just yet, but it will follow the same Mystery Inc. characters – Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, Velma, and Scooby-Doo – as they solve mysteries and travel in the Mystery Machine.
