Russell Crowe, known for both his on and off screen antics, is being rumored to play the role of Jor-El, Superman’s father, in the upcoming 2012 film “Man of Steel”.
Whether its going head to head with Roman Gladiators in his 2000 blockbuster or taking on al-Qaeda in real life, Russell Crowe doesn’t put up with bullsh*t. Neither did the man who played this same role in the 1978 film version.
In 1978 the producers of “Superman: The Movie” hired a man much like Crowe to play Jor-El. A man known for his bad boy attitude and altercations both on screen and off screen. That man was Marlon Brando.
Now Warner Bros. Pictures is asking if Russell Crowe is the right guy for the film? I would say yes. I mean who wouldn’t want to see Maximus Decimus Meridius as Superman’s father? I know I would.
Others rumored to be starring in the film include Henry Cavill (The Tudors) as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams (The Fighter) as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner (The Company Men) as Jonathan Kent and Diane Lane (Unfaithful) as Martha Kent.
