Comedian and actor Russell Brand returns to the MTV stage to host the 2012 MTV Movie Awards next month.
Brand was the host of the MTV Video Music Awards back in 2008 and 2009. He then went on to star in the movies “Get Him To The Greek” as well as “Arthur.”
Responding to the announcement, Brand said “This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than `The Avengers,’ and you won’t have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out.”
Executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic, who worked with Brand on the VMAs, calls the actor-comedian “such a brilliant talent.”
“He brings the funny but he also has that rock `n’ roll aesthetic,” he said.
The top movie contenders at this 21st edition of the awards ceremony are “The Hunger Games” and “Bridesmaids,” which have eight nominations each.
The MTV Movie Awards are also known for giving awards in the offbeat categories such as best kiss, best fight and best on-screen “dirtbag.”
Some of the actors scheduled to appear include Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Mark Wahlberg.
The 2012 MTV Movie Awards will be presented June 3 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif., and broadcast live on MTV.
