Home of a luxury fashion industry, amazing food, and rich history, the French enjoy many things, but it doesn’t seem that scary movies is one of them.
Paranormal Activity 4, which has made just over $130 million in world wide box-office, opened in French theaters two weeks ago.
The spine chilling horror film has not sat well with it’s French Audience. Verbally assaulted workers, looting of the candy counters, and in some cases, using the restroom inside the theater were how the frightened audience expressed their frustration of the film.
These riots led to the cancellation of several ‘Sinister’ screenings that were scheduled to take place throughout France.
French distributor Wild Bunch released a statement via Facebook saying, “Showing genre films in France is not easy, so we ask that our future spectators please be respectful of the rules of courtesy”
These events may prove to movie producers just how difficult it is to screen horror films in France.
