Fast and Furious 7 will resume filming in April 2014 after Universal suspended production for a three month hiatus due to Paul Walker’s death.
Universal released a statement after the incident saying, “we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on ‘Fast & Furious 7’ for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise.”
The cast will move back to a filming location in Atlanta to finish up the seventh installment.
Paul Walker will still be featured as his character Brian O’Conner in the film. Production for Fast and Furious 7 was reportedly halfway completed with Walker before his fiery car crash in Santa Clarita, California on November 30, 2013. Instead of killing off his character in this film, he will simply be retired so the franchise can live on.
Fast and Furious screenwriter Chris Morgan has been rewriting the script, while director James Wan and producer Neal Moritz are working diligently to recover all the scenes Walker appeared in.
Vin Diesel announced on his Facebook page that Fast and Furious 7 will hit theaters on April 10, 2015, pushed back from its original July 2014 release date.
