Pepsi To Sell ‘Pepsi Perfect’ Bottles in Honor of ‘Back to the Future’

In 1989’s Back to the Future Part II, Marty McFly travels to the future date of October 21, 2015, which shows flying cars and hover boards. Even though these futuristic items haven’t come to be, Pepsi is bringing a special bottle of Pepsi that was seen in the film.

In the film, Marty is seen going to a diner where he purchases a drink called a Pepsi Perfect in a fancy bottle for $50. To commemorate the film, Pepsi is releasing a limited edition Pepsi Perfect bottle, which will cost $20.15 each. Only 6,500 bottles will go on sale, and they will be released October 21st.

The 16.9-ounce bottles will be sold online, and they will also be distributed to the first 200 fans dressed as Marty who go to the Pepsi booth at the New York Comic-Con this month. Pepsi also hints that fans should check the company’s social media pages closer to the release date to find out where they can purchase it.

“Pepsi fans asked and we heard them loud and clear,” said Senior Director of Marketing Lou Arbetter in a statement. “The Back to the Future trilogy was as big a moment in pop culture history then as it is now, 30 years later. We are excited to be part of this moment and to bring fans something only Pepsi could deliver – and there’s no need to wait – the future is now!”

“We’re fans of this popular trilogy, and just generally, if you work at Pepsi you’re fans of pop culture. The brand has made its mark in pop culture frankly since Michael Jackson moonwalked. We’ve been dancing in and around pop culture for a while,” Arbetter added. “So we look at this as another opportunity to have a little bit of fun.”

Pepsi isn’t the only company to be honoring Back to the Future this month. Universal Studios is also paying homage to the franchise’s 30th anniversary. Today, the studio released a fake trailer for Jaws 19, which was a film title that was shown in Back to the Future Part II. Check it out below:
